My First Blog Post Upon Publishing Thembe's Cloth

Having just launched into the publishing world I am faced with hereto unknown social media hence my first blog post! I am thrilled Thembe's Cloth has finally published and received its first 5 star ratings :

This is a must-read. It is well written and draws the reader into the lives and emotions of the characters. The author has managed to weave the story together in a way that makes the book hard to put down. It is a difficult subject that is brought to life in this deeply personal story.

In this beautifully written debut novel the author transports you to South Africa during apartheid where you become immersed in the lives of Kristi and Thembe, two young girls of different races whose friendship transcends to adulthood .

The characters are well-developed which allows you to fully engage with each. You will rejoice with them in their achievements and grieve with them as they suffer the cruelties and injustices of apartheid . A recurrent theme throughout the novel depicts the strength and courage of women as they endure these hardships. The female characters Kristi, Thembe, Ellen, and Mrs Graham exhibit courage and fortitude as they maintain their fierce love and loyalty to their families and cultures. I especially admired Kristi with her playful personality, gentleness, kindness, and perseverance to secure her bond with Thembe.

The author’s personal connection to South Africa and love for her homeland is apparent . She eloquently describes the beauty of the country, and as you read you become entranced in the setting. You want to watch the sun set over the majestic mountain, smell the scent of the pines, swim in the serene cool water of the river, and even feast on juicy plums while perched on the tree branch with Kristi and Thembe.

Thembe’s Cloth is an exceptional story that will remain with you long after the last page is read.
